Finding Strength in Sharing: My Journey Through Grief

Did you ever avoid thinking about something from your past because it hurts too much?

It not only hurts to think about it, but it carries the intensity to make you feel queasy on demand, lightheaded, and sick to your innermost core.

I certainly have!  In fact, I often did that until I worked through the healing process and mustered up the courage to write a book called Grief Stricken. Writing that story knocked the wind out of my sails repeatedly, forcing me to take a journey back in time. Mentally and emotionally, I had to go back to pull out intricate details of a traumatic part of my life—a time that I worked hard to move on and heal from.

I had to find the courage to sit at my laptop for hours upon hours to write a personal and very true story that has unequivocally changed the course of my life.

For a long time, years in fact, I had felt compelled to share my story about the tragic, unexpected death of my mother. So, one day, I decided that today was the day I would share my story with the world in a way that made me feel completely bare.

Why did I do this, you ask?

I decided to share my story so other people would know they’re not alone! I felt alone early on in my grief and spent days immersed in sadness, not knowing if I was coming or going. Believe it or not, connecting with other people who shared a loss, any type of loss, oddly made me feel at home. I immediately knew they got me and understood what I was going through. So, grief’s unwelcome visit is something I know all too well.

In this book, Grief Stricken, I expose my very intimate and raw emotions throughout a journey that began with my mother’s sudden death.

If you read my story, you may become hooked on the words within this book’s pages as I reveal and explore how being motherless affected my thoughts, emotions, and decisions in various aspects of my life, like personal relationships. You may find this story to be conveniently relatable and something you connect to.

I also detail many methods I utilized to help bring about my healing, including counseling and feeling the love of my sweet dog.

I truly hope this book will bring some sense of healing to its readers.

Know that if you are on a grief journey of your own, you are not alone.

Allow me to share my story with you to prove it. Together, we can form a strong community of support for healing- something I wish I had early on in my grieving process.
